I suppose what I love most about collecting old cameras is the nostalgia of time.
Cameras are perfect little boxes that take moments in time and save them for us later. It’s beautiful to think that time can be stored safe and sound in a tiny, magical box. Time is something that slips through your hands faster than money, love and happiness ever will. It is a beautiful gift not to be wasted on ill wishes or worries.
A few days ago I was fortunate enough to visit with my grandparents during my lunch. During my lovely visit, my Papaw said that he needed to find something before I left that he had been meaning to give to me. He walked through the house and quickly scanned through the rooms to find that something. When he came back to the living room, I felt my face lighten. He had in his hands his old Nikon that he had used for years, and he was handing it to me. Needless to say I was overwhelmed and slightly dizzy when I felt the heavy little metal object in my hands. I was holding at least forty years of memories, moments and legacies. I have several cameras in my collection, but that Nikon will forever be my favorite.
Fortunately, it is in working condition and I have every intention of experimenting with it for years to come. I can never thank my Papaw enough for giving me one of the most special gifts that could ever be given: the chance to grasp a moment in time.
I hope you all have a lovely day. Stay ever so amazing.
Loads of Love,
