Barnabas the Hippie Bus

image

Tonight I felt an extra twinge of inspiration to pick up my brushes and make something happy.

I would love to have a VW bus like this one someday.

Maybe one day I will!

Have a fantastic one wherever you are and stay ever so amazing!

Lunch Buddies

image

Remember in school when how cool you were was gauged on who you sat with at lunch? Well if that still carries over to the adult world, I must be pretty cool! This little Groot bobblehead was given to me as a present from a dear friend of mine. His head doesn’t bobble much, but he does like to bounce up and down!

image

Oh yes, and of course there is Penelope the sassy flower. She always adds just the right amount of cheer and prep to any occasion.

If anyone else wants to eat lunch at our table they can. Just bring cookies. I, uh…. I mean Groot….loves cookies!

Have an amazing day and stay ever so incredible!

A Cinderella State of Mind

image

I’m sure most everyone has heard of the newest version of Cinderella that has come out in theaters recently. (I must say that I really enjoyed it!) I went with a small group of family to see it this weekend and the show sold out within minutes. As we stood in line with popcorn in hand I noticed all the tiny little girls waiting excitedly in the lobby. They all were in princessy colors mixed with glittery headbands and light pink lip gloss. I began to think as the line started to move if those little girls would hold on to the story they were about to be told.

You see, a Cinderella mind set doesn’t just fall out of the sky and in to the laps of unsuspecting little girls. It’s a determination of sorts within the heart and mind. Life throws things at people and it can make them bitter. Loss of family, cruelty from peers and terrible circumstances often crush their victims rather than build them up.

Will those little girls remember to be kind even to others even though the popular thing is to make fun? Will they remember that life is a fragile, beautiful gift that no one can guarantee? Will they remember that beauty comes from the inside?

The world is a cruel place that wants to crush beautiful little Cinderellas. They will be told that makeup is what counts and that the only way to get ahead in life is to watch out for number one and to tear others down in pettiness and jealousy. They will be told that true feminine attributes, such as compassion and love are dated, silly and only for the weak minded.

I hope that those little girls prove those voices wrong! I want to see them grow up to be kindhearted and tender to the people around them. I want them to feel beautiful with or without cosmetics. I want them to live their dreams.

A Cinderella mindset takes more guts than the ever popular shallow mindset of today. As The Smiths said, “It takes guys to be gentle and kind.” Why is that? Because in order to be kind you make yourself vulnerable. You open yourself up to be hurt for the benefit of someone else. That is the mindset of Cinderella. And we need more true princesses in the world!

I hope you all have a lovely day and stay ever so amazing!

My Biggest Fan

image

Yesterday was a lovely dreary day. The rain may have settled in for the evening but luckily I actually got to do some fun things. I got to see “Cinderella” with my Mom, sister and aunt (which was fantastic, by the way) and I also did some antique and clothes shopping before hand. And you all know just how crazy I am about old things!

I have had my eye on this old fan for over a year now and I finally got to put it in my room. It actually works, too!

I hope you all have a fantastic day filled with happiness! Stay ever so amazing!

A Beatle Break

image

Well ladies and gents, today has been the loveliest day this week weather wise. So to celebrate I decided to splurge and buy yet another CD for my car. And what is a lunch break without the Beatles?

I am very happy with my purchase!

I hope you all have a beautiful sunny day!

Little Happy Things

image

In the past few days I have found several little things that make me very happy. This Louis Armstrong album was a gift from my sister. As you can see she knows me all too well! I have played this record over and over while I get ready in the morning and occasionally when I fold clothes or do miscellaneous tasks around my room.

image

I saw these adorable little salt and pepper shakers while looking around in a store on a special little outing with Mom, my aunt and my sister. I don’t have my own kitchen as of now, but when I do these friendly little fellows will be put to good use.

image

We also went to an antique store full of beautiful things. I splurged quite a bit while I was there. One of the items I bought was this Hawkeye Brownie camera. I have three other Brownies I’ve written about in previous posts. They are adorable little cameras that were produced in the 50s and 60s.

image

This little guy is made by a German company called Agfa. I haven’t researched about it yet but I hope to soon.

image

The cool thing is that this camera came with film in it. Either it’s a new roll or it’s full of memories. Either way it’s very interesting.

image

And of course, what is life without a new purse…

image

Or two…

The neat thing about the brown basket purse is that it isn’t crushed anywhere. It’s common for these purses to be smashed in bits and pieces. It’s pretty rare to find one so old and yet in such good condition.

image

Fun fact of the day: my ears are not pierced. So when I saw several boxes full of these old clip ons, I immediately fell in love. On top of that they were only a dollar per pair.

Heavenly, isn’t it?

Apparently having pierced ears wasn’t as common as it is today.

image

I also found this pearl necklace.

image

And this peachy one.

Both are vintage and are in excellent condition. They are both completely unique and add a special touch.

Want to know the coolest part of it all? I purchased all of these things, with the exception of the album and the salt and pepper shakers, for $56. Oh yes! And I also bought three old books from the 1940s. Needless to say I was one happy camper.

I hope you all have an amazing day and happy shopping!

The Power of Thought

image

I’ll be the first to step up and admit that I have a thinking issue. For the most part I think rather negative thoughts about myself. I am literally my worst critic. At times I beat myself down so much that I end up feeling defeated and scarred.

So I’ve made a decision. I am going to stop being so hard on myself.

Because most if not all of the reasons I scold myself are completely stupid (to be quite blunt) and the way I think affects how I live my life.

Insecurities are honestly incredibly stupid if you think about it. I’ve actually wasted days in frustration before because I didn’t like the way my hair looked or my eyes aren’t as pretty as so and so’s. The crazy thing is that it really doesn’t amount to a hill of beans in the long run. Just think, I have hair. That within itself is a blessing. No it’s not perfect, but neither am I so it suites me well! My eyes can see! That should be beautiful enough! I can look up at the clear blue sky and watch the birds fly overhead. I can watch someone’s face form into a bright smile when they are happy!

My body isn’t supermodel material but it allows me to function every day! I can walk, talk, eat, sleep, run, think, feel, taste and live! I am literally a walking talking miracle made up of miscellaneous tissues, liquids and chemical reactions. I can ride a bike, solve a problem, give a hug and I have the potential to maybe one day give the gift of life to another little miracle who shares my DNA.

No, I’m not everyone’s cup of tea. But that doesn’t mean that I have to get down in the mouth about it.

I have too many wonderful things in my life to be sad! Life is a gift not to be wasted on petty thinking and what not.

I literally have nothing to complain about. Absolutely nothing. So I have every intention of changing my thoughts. It will be a challenge but I will give it my all! I refuse to give up!

I hope you all have an ever so fantastic day! Stay incredible.

Meet Hemingway

image

Well ladies and gents, I’ve been bad once again. The other day I was browsing the broad space known as the internet and I found this charming little fellow on a site called eBay. Maybe you’ve heard of it.

To be honest, I have never bought anything off of eBay until now. Luckily there was only eight minutes left for bidding so I hopped right in and claimed my vintage prize.

All I need now is a ribbon and I am good to go! Oh yes, and I’ve decided to name him Hemingway. He is a 1976 Smith Corona and he is in excellent condition. Needless to say my family will soon get sick of hearing his clicking throughout the house.

I hope you all have a wonderful day! Stay ever so amazing.
