Pushing

Four little letters
tying down hearts
to sinking ships
and smoky mirrors
when chaos starts
to sink teeth
into breaking flesh

Pushing them away
expecting the same
love and light
bleeding from eyes
pride only to blame
for the cold
shoulders and greetings

Trying to fixate
an eternal flight
‘do I love
or just imagine
this light so bright
and heart blinding?’
and the answer is found

Yet it is too late
the pusher has gained
to far from the shore
of ‘happy ever after’
all love is feigned
and now loneliness
is all that remains

nothing is all
that is given
and everything
shall be returned
